We have a winning streak!! With a 11-4 win over Oakland tonight the Rangers have won 3 in a row and will go for the sweep Wednesday. Since June 29, the Texas Rangers have the #1 ERA in the major leagues. I never would have imagined the Rangers could sustain this type of pitching over a 3 week period. The biggest difference has obviously been the starting pitching which has been as consistant as any. Throw in a bullpen that I could easily argue is the best in the league and you have a dangerous combination. I have to agree with Norm Hitzges who today argued, why is there all this talk about trading Gagne & Otsuka and nobody is talking about signing them to an extention or at least resigning at the end of the year. There is no reason why this bullpen couldn't be a part of a Rangers winning season even if we are talking about 2009 or 2010. Season record 41-52, 14.5 games behind the California Angels.
While I know this will probably jinx the Rangers, it is fun to know we have a chance to sweep the A's. even if the A's look like a AA team this past week. Poor hitting, poor defense, and bad pitching should lead them to the cellar in a week or 2. 3rd place here we come.
